Treskow-Höfe topping-out ceremony
New building celebration in white and blue
Project profile
HOWOGE has been developing a trendsetting neighbourhood in Berlin-Lichtenberg since spring 2013 comprising over 400 barrier-free apartments, a day-care centre, two elderly residential communities and retail space. At this point in time, the Treskow-Höfe complex constitutes the largest municipal construction project in the metropolis on the Spree.
HOWOGE is able to welcome its guests to the topping-out ceremony in July of the following year. A staggering 450 guests accepted the invitation, including Michael Müller, Senator for Urban Development and the Environment, Andreas Geisel, District Mayor of Lichtenberg, the architect duo Anika Wolff and Claus Neumann and a large number of people working on the construction site.
The welcoming speeches are followed by the traditional topping-out ceremony with a ceremonial proclamation by the carpenter, wreath lifting and nail hammering. The event is rounded off in the late afternoon with hearty food and drinks in the glorious sunshine.
