The increasingly congested Berlin Institution America Memorial Library now features a small extension – the AGB PopUp.
The AGB PopUp is an 800 m² wonder house filled with space for encounters and democracy, for happy and thoughtful events, for learning, reading, working, debating and for events.
Its opening was celebrated on September 3rd, 2023 with a grand festival – a cultural programme packed with diversity. The ceremony kicked off with the Senator for Culture, Joe Chialo, who opened the building together with the General Director of the Berlin Central and Regional Library, Volker Heller.
Visitors were not only able to familiarise themselves with the new building during the course of the day, but also participate in numerous readings, concerts, craft activities and interactive workshops. The main focus of the event was on mutual exchange and peaceful and tolerant coexistence. One of the highlights of the day was the children’s book reading by drag queen Tatjana Berlin.
The building has enjoyed great popularity since its opening and is also regularly used for events as part of the AGB’s Sunday opening.
