Europe lives solidarity!

Interactive Europe Day online

Project profile

The whole of Europe celebrates peace and freedom on May 9th. The EU institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg as well as the representations in the member states typically open their doors to all interested parties on this day. This is also the case with the European House Unter den Linden. The coronavirus crisis has compelled us to cancel the Europe Festival in the premises of the “Experience Europe” permanent exhibition; a decision that was taken with a heavy heart – also because Europe Day 2020 coincides with the 70th anniversary of the groundbreaking Schuman Declaration for the international community.

artecom proposes to stage the event online. A database-driven infotainment platform featuring a high proportion of live streaming and interactive elements is at the heart of the agency’s concept. The project team developed all modules for the campaign site within three weeks in line with the theme “Europe lives solidarity”: from a webinar to an EU competition quiz and a two-stage voting tool featuring real-time analyses to concert broadcasts and talks from various European countries.

By posing the question “What does solidarity mean?”, the project team was able to successfully approach members of the European Parliament as well as representatives of the European Commission and the federal states: To coincide with the launch on May 9th the campaign website will feature numerous video statements from political figures. Among those speaking will be the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament.
