Breaking of the ground and laying of the foundation stone
Senator dredges for Berlin
Project profile
Berlin needs affordable housing. And for all generations. As a municipal housing company, HOWOGE is consistently tackling this challenge, notably by initiating new construction projects. The Küstriner Strasse and Reichenberger Strasse projects bring the letting company another step closer to its goal of increasing its portfolio from the current 59,000 residential units to 75,000 by 2026.
The emergence of the neighbourhood in the Lichtenberg district of Alt-Hohenschönhausen is to be staged in a manner that will attract public attention in October 2014. The event will see the Mayor-designate and Senator for Urban Development and the Environment, Michael Müller, lay the foundation stone for the construction of around 190 rental apartments on the almost 9,000 square metre site – and, much to the delight of the members of the press present, he won’t shy away from taking the wheel of the crawler excavator for the excavation himself.
